Wow! A great day to be from Illinois isn’t it? Gotta love our state and their trademarked brand of corrupt politicians. Once again an Illinois politician, no less our damn Governor, has been arrested! Whoohooo! Score one for the people of IL, I just hope that he takes a ton of those a-holes with him. Clean out the system, start-a-new, get a fresh group of people in there that CARE about our state, instead of stuffing their pocketbooks. I wonder if this time the fools in Chicago will wake up enough to not elect a crook and ruin the rest of the state for us. I doubt it, some Chicago guy will tell them he will get free stuff for them, and they will all go running and vote him in.
I for one am hoping that this doesn’t rise to the President-Elect’s feet either, just what we need in the US, yet another corrupt guy in the White House, the world will laugh at us even more. Of course, this would make my inner-Republican very happy if Obama had something scratching at his feet just as he took office. Selling a Senate seat is freaking awesome, and that is not even what they were investigating him for, they just stumbled upon that, what a damn fool. A news report:
Fitzgerald’s office said the 76-page FBI affidavit alleges that Blagojevich was taped conspiring to sell or trade Obama’s vacated U.S. Senate seat for financial and other personal benefits for himself and his wife, including an annual salary of $250,000-$300,000 at a nonprofit foundation or an organization affiliated with labor unions.
They also allege Blagojevich is heard on tape demanding a corporate board seat for his wife worth as much as $150,000 a year; promises of campaign funds, including cash up front; and the post of secretary of health and human services or an ambassadorship for himself in the Obama administration.
I wonder when Americans will stop be subjects of corrupt politicans and start demanding that the people are served with fair and just leaders. I suppose it is just human nature to become complacent and accept what is thrown at you, heck look at the medieval times and how people accepted kings and queens. My one major concern is that in the long run, the US will suffer from our crappy leadership, the few good ones out there that honestly are out to serve the US and it’s people cannot rally against the idiot masses who are not. Sometimes I wonder if the America we are leaving for our kids, is really the country we want to leave for them.
Washington, Franklin, Paine, and Jefferson are probably holding their heads in shame of what we have become. Such high ideals and aspirations, brought down by the very desires or power they were trying to escape.
