Contest! You could win two eBooks!

If you read this blog no doubt you know my love of a few books by an author named Lindsay Buroker. I have been lucky enough to have a few conversations with her and get some insight on self-publishing and being a writer, something I have always wanted to do. With a little luck I will be helping my mother and a friend of mine get published using the information she has given to me!

Anyway, Lindsay has a new book out, a sequel to the excellent book “The Emperor’s Edge” that I reviewed here. I highly recommend the book, Lindsay has a great skill with writing and I just got my hands on the sequel and immediately tore into the book.

The new book is shaping up to be just as good. In my dialogue with Lindsay I suggested we run a little contest here on my blog to help promote her books and probably introduce her to a new market that might not have heard of her. Lindsay agreed to provide me with coupons for free copies of the first AND second book to give away.

The synopsis for the first book:

Imperial law enforcer Amaranthe Lokdon is good at her job: she can deter thieves and pacify thugs, if not with a blade, then by toppling an eight-foot pile of coffee canisters onto their heads. But when ravaged bodies show up on the waterfront, an arson covers up human sacrifices, and a powerful business coalition plots to kill the emperor, she feels a tad overwhelmed.

Worse, Sicarius, the empire’s most notorious assassin, is in town. He’s tied in with the chaos somehow, but Amaranthe would be a fool to cross his path. Unfortunately, her superiors order her to hunt him down. Either they have an unprecedented belief in her skills… or someone wants her dead.

Here is the synopsis from the second book:

It’s been three months since former enforcer Amaranthe Lokdon and the notorious assassin Sicarius thwarted kidnappers and saved the emperor’s life. The problem? Nobody knows they were responsible for this good deed. Worse, they’re being blamed for the entire scheme. With enforcers and bounty hunters stalking them, and the emperor nursing a personal hatred for Sicarius, it’s going to be hard to earn exoneration.

When Amaranthe’s team discovers mutilated bodies in the city aqueducts and a mysterious illness incapacitates thousands of citizens, she and Sicarius see an opportunity to solve the mystery and prove their loyalty. But they’ll have to defeat vengeful shamans, man-eating predators, and deadly mechanical constructs, all while dodging imperial soldiers who would rather kill them than accept their help.

Nobody said exoneration would be easy.

On to the contest. If you are interested in a free copies of her two books in the Emperor’s Edge series, all you need to do is post a comment here on my blog. How is that for simple? I will randomly select a name from those commenting on this post before Friday, June 17. Coupons will be presented to the winner via email and are for a eBook copy available from Smashwords (almost all versions of eBooks are supported to include kindle, nook, pdf, html, rich text, etc).

Remember, just post a comment to this post and you are entered into the contest!

Lindsay Buroker’s blog can be found here, she talks about her books and about breaking into the self-publishing business, an interesting read for anyone likewise minded.

  1. It’s been a while since I’ve read anything fictional (been in a non-fiction groove for a while). I shall have to look into these books.

  2. Book contests are great. I’ve already won one on Goodreads. And thanks for mentioning that you are going to help me get published. I will hold you to that.

  3. I am excited to get these books. My wife is the head of the childrens dpt at ourlibrary and has heard many good things about them as well….
